On Saturday, December 5th, twenty + Vineyard OP folks got together to prepare and serve lunch for over 200 homeless men and women at Hope Faith Ministries in downtown Kansas City. We made enough chili for 350 people in the new church building kitchen, and then transported it down to Hope Faith. The team there served the chili, cleaned up and spent some quality time with the Hope Faith clients.
Vineyard OP is serving breakfast twelve times in 2010. Starting on Wednesday, January 13th, Vineyard OP will serve breakfast once a month, alternating between mid-week breakfast (Jan., Mar., May, Jul., Sep., Nov.) and Saturday breakfasts (Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct. and Dec.). Watch the Event Center to find out the dates and be sure to sign up to be a part of this outreach ministry.
Photos tell the story better than we can, so here they are:
At Vineyard OP, outreach is part of our daily life. In America, it seems easier to give generously in November and December, but life in the Kingdom of God means extreme generosity all year long. In 2010, this is a focus for the Vineyard OP community. We desire to demonstrate the nature of God to Overland Park, and we will invite them to join God's Kingdom. Serving the homeless is one of the clearest indicators of God's heart of mercy, and we will continue to demonstrate that nature whenever possible.
