A Few Notes About Being an Instructor in the Hub

1. Hub instructors must be regular attendees or members of Vineyard Church of Overland Park.

This is to ensure that Vineyard OP has some level of relationship with the instructors.

2. Vineyard OP does not charge/pay instruction fees or tuition.

This is an opportunity to reach out and serve our community, and so instructors are asked to offer their teaching gifts and services on a volunteer basis.  This also helps keep class costs low to allow more people in our community to take advantage of the classes offered.  The only class fees charged are actual costs for materials.

3. Classes should be non-religious in language and content.

This is a community center offering, and our desire is to build relationship with our community while meeting practical physical and emotional needs.  If you have a class that is solely religious in orientation please consider offering that class for weekend services.

EXCEPTION: If a class with religious content is an exceptional fit for the Hub, and so we decide to offer it, the Hub Activities Guide class description must clearly note the class is taught from an explicitly Christian perspective.  We want to make sure people know what they are signing up for ahead of time.

4. Your class can be shorter than the full session.

Classes can be as short as one week or can recur every week for the enitire duration of the session.  It's up to you, so don't feel like you have to make your class stretch eight weeks if it isn't a eight-week class.

5. Vineyard OP provides the classroom and facilities.

Vineyard OP reserves a room for your class.  We'll try to keep that same room for you every week, but, as circumstances warrant, we may need to relocate your class.  The classroom will have chairs and tables for the number of students registered for your class.  We have limited audio-visual equipment available, and will make our best effort to provide these for your classes as needed.

6.  Instructors are required to attend the Hub Instructor Orientation class.

We want our Hub instructors to be comfortable as they go forward to teach.  So for every session, we offer an instructor orientation.  This is a brief class that helps you understand what the Hub is all about and makes sure you are informed.  See the schedule information for each session to know when these instructor orientation classes are available.

7.  Vineyard OP offers two methods to cover class materials costs:

  1. Reimbursement - The students pay Vineyard OP directly.  The instructor pays for the class materials out of pocket and turns the receipts into Vineyard OP for reimbursement.  NOTE:  Because of Vineyard OP financial accountability practices, the reimbursement process takes several weeks.
  2. Students purchase materials directly - This works especially well for art classes.  The instructor provides a materials list to the students and the students purchase the materials themselves for the class.
OK!  That's everything we have to say for now!  If you agree to these guidelines, then please submit your class application below.  By submitting the class submission form, you are agreeing to these guidelines.
