Ministries

"College-age" is just this term we use to describe people who are out of high school, may be going to community college or some big-time university, or may already be a slave to Corporate America, or may just have "college-brain" (whatever that means).  If you fit into one (or more) of these categories, then the 1820's group is for you.  Join us for fun, worship, great food, discussion & prayer!  We meet every Tuesday @ 7pm @ 10537 Goddard St. Apt 326 Overland Park, KS 66214.  For more info contact:  Sarah Wessel:  sarahwessel@vineyardop.org or 816-217-7834.

If you are in high school, then you should join us at one of our weekend services:

  • Saturdays @ 5pm in the Youth Room
  • Sundays @ 10:45am in the Gym

During our weekend services you'll get a chance to worship God through music, hear some relevant teaching, get to discuss the message with the other high schoolers there and get to hang out with people your age.  We do more than just weekend services, so come some Saturday or Sunday to find out more!

If your kids are in grades 5 through 8, we have a place for them to plug in and make new friends.  Our middle school group meets:

  • Saturday night @ 5pm in the Gym
  • Sunday mornings @ 9am in the Gym

We want your middle schoolers to experience the Kingdom of God on a regular basis - as part of this community of Christ-followers.  We want to join with you to help demonstrate how they can actively live their faith, serve through leadership in the church, and engage their world through the power of God.  Contact Alexis Dasari (contact info below) for more information.

If your kids are grades 1 through 4, then we have classes for them during all three regular weekend services.  Just bring them to the Vineyard Kids check-in station, and we'll take care of them.  Here at Vineyard OP, we're called to do more than childcare: we believe kids can encounter God in very real ways, sometimes better than the adults can!  We want the time your kids spend with us to be an opportunity to experience God through worship, teaching, small group time and fun!  Talk to Matt Branson (contact info below) for more info.

Be sure and check out the latest ParentLink Newsletter!

If your children are ages birth through five years old, then this is the place for you.  As with all of our children's ministry, we don't believe in just childcare - even with these wee ones.  We desire to help even the smallest people in our community to experience God.  Classes are available for these ages during all weekend services.  Just come in and one of our greeters will point you in the right direction.

For more information, please contact Becca Andersen, our early childhood director (contact info below).

If you are already serving in Early Childhood, you can go to the Early Childhood Schedule.  You'll need the login ID and password, and Becca Andersen can get it to you.

As a community of people who follow Jesus, we get together a lot to serve together.  We do this in a lot of ways, whether serving at a homeless shelter or praying for people at the city festival or offering free haircuts for kids.  Those are just some of the outreaches we've cooked up, and we're always looking to see what God wants us to do next.  Come and join us.

Watch for Missions and Outreach events in the Event Center to serve along with us.

You can also join the Outreach email list or find out more about outreach here at Vineyard OP by contacting David Andersen (contact info below).

Vineyard OP takes the whole "going to all nations and making disciples" mandate seriously.  We believe in putting our resources into planting churches led by indigenous leaders in the areas around the world where God leads us.  We do this through joining in partnerships with other Vineyard churches.  We are currently involved in South America, as well as North and South-East and Asia, and we are looking to join more partnerships in the years to come, as God leads.

You can sign up to join the Missions Awareness email list, or you can learn more by talking to our Missions pastor, David Andersen (contact info below).

The "walking school bus" is a fun, safe and active way for children to travel to and from school with adult supervision.

Each "bus," or group of students, walk to school with one or more adults, who serve as "drivers," and are responsible for getting the students to and from school safely.

All of our weekend musicians and vocalists are volunteers. They do this for free because they get to use their gifts and talents to serve God and others.  We're always looking for people who want to serve in this way, but you should know we don't put just anybody up on the stage.  We're looking for people who love to worship as a lifestyle (not just a "Sunday-morning thing"), who have a sensitivity to God's presence, are humble and love to serve and who have musical ability on their instrument of choice.  There are other things we consider as well, but you get the general idea.

If you are interested in auditioning to join the weekend worship team, then please fill out the Worship Team Audition form and we'll get back to you.  For more information, you can contact our worship arts pastor, John Hix (contact info below).

Often times, the dramatic arts can communicate truth straight to people's hearts in ways that talking and teaching can't.  We love that.  God made us to experience him in many different ways, and so our drama team takes this idea and runs with it.  This is another opportunity for people to use their gifts and talents to serve God and others.

Our drama team is led by Susan Randall (contact info below), and she's the one you'll want to call if you are interested in joining the team.

Are you both creative and technically minded?  Our media tech team is a volunteer team that gets to use their gifts and talents to serve God and others through audio and video presentation and production.  Our media tech team includes:

  • Running sound for weekend services
  • Running lights and video presentation for weekend services
  • In-house video production

If you are interested in joining the media tech team, or if you just want to know more about the team, please contact our worship arts pastor, John Hix (contact info below).

So maybe you don't consider yourself to be a super-talented musical artist worship leader type, but you think that maybe you could be, if someone would just take the time to show you how.  Well, we created this thing called "School of Worship Arts" as a training facility for developing people's gifts and talents so they can use them to serve God and others in new ways.  So, if you think you might have some talent as a musician, vocalist, actor, painter, photographer, graphic artist, director, producer, videographer, etc. then be watching for the next School of Worship Arts session over at the Event Center.  Then sign up and join in.  Together, we can work to release the "Creative Class" to serve God and others.

For more info, contact our Worship Arts pastor, John Hix (contact info below).

Many of our small groups have a time of musical worship, which is usually led by a small group worship leader.  We also have small groups that don't have a small group leader, but would like to have one.  Maybe you already have the skills needed to lead a small group in worship.  If this is you, please contact our Connecting and Small Groups pastor, Fred Hoffman (contact info below) to learn where you might be able to serve.

If you are interested in learning to be a small group worship leader, we recommend you attend the next session of the School of Worship Arts worship leader training.  You can watch for this over at the Event Center.
