Getting Started

1. How do we know that Jesus was both fully man and fully God? Why is this understanding important?

2. Why is letting someone know that you need them one of the most loving things you can do?

3. Do you find it difficult to receive? Do you have a hard time confessing your need? Do you regularly humble yourself, when you need help, to ask for help? Why or why not?

Going Deeper

4. In addressing the Samaritan woman, Jesus was breaking at least two big social taboos. What do we learn from this passage about Jesus’ attitude toward the marginalized? What was Jesus’ attitude toward women?

5. Men, do you relate to women the way Jesus did? Why or why not. Women, do you believe Jesus sees you as every bit as valuable as a man? Why or why not.

6. What do you think would happen if the followers of Jesus extended the hand of friendship to abortionists, feminists and homosexuals? What, if anything, would keep you from doing that?

7. If Jesus has living water that quenches our thirst, why don’t we go to him every time? Name some of the ways we try to quench the thirst within apart from him.

8. When was the last time you let Jesus get uncomfortably personal with you? How did you respond?
