Your Children Will Learn: Angels visited the shepherds. The shepherds visited baby Jesus.
Memory verse for unit 4- For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us. Isaiah 9:6a
Just for Parents - Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of Britain’s sovereigns since 1837. Today, it is the Queen’s official residence. The staterooms are ornately furnished with some of the finest English and French furniture in the world. The walls are lined with original paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Vermeer. All ...

Stress often results from out-of-whack priorities and poor time management—two areas many adults struggle with also. To gauge the priorities of Christian teenagers, Group Magazine surveyed 20,000 kids who represent a cross-section of youth group members. Although kids listed “praying and developing a relationship with God” as their top priority, youth leaders say kids’ actions don’t seem to back that up. “They’re so busy with school, work, sports, and so on—and their parents encourage it—that it seems the first things to get dropped are the ...

Your Children Will Learn: Joseph and Mary visited Bethlehem. Jesus was born!
Memory verse for unit 4- For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us. Isaiah 9:6a
Just for Parents - Life is so much easier than it was over 2000 years ago. The Christmas story we read in Luke 2:1-7 really demonstrates this for us. Think about the journey that Joseph and Mary took to Bethlehem. They had to travel on foot a distance of about 93 miles. Put yourself in Joseph’s shoes as he walked alongside Mary, his very pregnant wife. What ...

On Saturday, December 10th, 25 people met at Vineyard OP at 6:15 in the morning (what I tend to refer to as "stupid o' clock in the morning"). These people braved the dark and the cold early morning hours to go down to Hope Faith Ministries and serve the homeless men and women of downtown Kansas City.
The team cooked and served breakfast, and then bussed the tables and cleaned up for the lunch crew that was coming in. It was a great opportunity to serve so many people.
Thank you to everyone who came and served.
Here are a few ...

1. Isaiah 9 refers to people “walking in darkness”. What does that look like in our day?
2. How does God rescue people who are walking in darkness? How did he rescue you?
3. Are you down? Do you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom? Is hitting rock bottom the worst thing that can happen to you? Why or why not?
4. How do you humble yourself? Make a list of some practical things you can do to humble yourself before the Lord.
5. Becoming a thorough-going follower of Jesus is about becoming a ...

Your Children Will Learn: An angel visited Joseph. Joseph obeyed God.
Memory verse for unit 4- For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us. Isaiah 9:6a
Just for Parents - When Joseph heard Mary’s news he decided to divorce Mary quietly. In the face of what was certainly going to be a huge scandal, Joseph was seeking to follow the precepts of his faith and do the right thing. His friends and family would have supported his decision to end his relationship with Mary and move on. However, God’s plans interrupted Joseph ...

The Bible is filled with unlikely heroes. A young shepherd boy and a ragtag bunch of disciples are just some of the people God used to fulfill his plans. God doesn’t have a strict set of requirements or an age limit for service. Instead, he uses young people in mighty ways to minister and serve.
Twins Alex and Brett Harris are two young heroes who set out to spark an adolescent “rebelution.” At age 18, they wrote Do Hard Things (Multnomah Books), which challenges teenagers to fulfill their potential and defy the world’s low expectations of ...

Your Children Will Learn: An angel visited Mary. Mary was promised a baby.
Memory verse for unit 4- For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us. Isaiah 9:6a
Just for Parents - Jesus said in Mark 10:15, “Anyone who will not receive God’s kingdom like a little child will never enter it.” As adults, we approach God’s kingdom with skepticism and doubt. We need God to prove to us that He can do what He promises. But children can accept the most amazing things. Mary was a young woman who was faced with an incredibly ...

1. What does it mean to reflect God’s nature to the people around you? Cite some positive examples you have experienced.
2. Justice and mercy are both part of who God is. How have you seen both of these aspects of God’s personality play out in your life?
3. Romans 3:23 says we have all sinned and fallen short. Why do you think it is so popular to teach an “I’m OK, you’re OK” gospel? Why would someone teach this kind of gospel?
4. God showed mercy to Ninevah (Jonah 3), Zaccheus (Luke 19) and the ...

Your Children Will Learn: An angel visited Zechariah. Zechariah stopped speaking.
Memory verse for unit 4- For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us. Isaiah 9:6a
Just for Parents - December is a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. But it’s so easy to forget what the celebration is all about. We run around in a frenzy buying gifts, sending cards, decorating our homes, and attending Christmas parties galore. Meanwhile, we forget the central truth of the season: God breaking into our ...
