Hundreds of Muffins for Missions

David Andersen
On May 22 and 23, before and after all weekend services, there was many a muffin to be had in the lobby. The 2010 Ecuador Mission Trip team held a "Muffins for Missions" fundraiser in the lobby. OK, so it wasn't just muffins - it was more like a bake sale. But, man, did we have some good eats out there. Muffins, homemade cookies, lemon cakes, cheese pastries, and even some Ahmish Friendship bread! All in all, we estimate over 400 baked goods were donated for the event! The team made just over $400, and all the proceeds went to help t ...

David Andersen
I want to take a moment to give you an update on Vineyard Mercy Response efforts in Haiti. From their website, Phil Schissler, director of Vineyard Mercy Response: "Due to the generous outpouring of compassion and mercy by the Vineyard community, Vineyard USA Mercy Response is pleased and excited to announce plans for a building project to aid the people of Haiti. A May Morning at Hope Faith

David Andersen
Vineyard OP took another crew of servers out to Hope Faith Ministries this past Wednesday. We cooked up another 1080 eggs, 1080 slices of bacon, and 72 lbs if hash browns for the homeless men and women of Kansas City. Hope Faith Ministries is a day-center that serves breakfast to the homeless of downtown Kansas City and works with these same people to find the ones who have hope and get them back on their feet. You can read more about them at their website.

12 Sleepless Hours

On April 23rd, 22 high school girls and 3 adult leaders got together for 12 hours for fun! Everyone had a blast getting to know each other better and perhaps even starting a few new friendships. Those 12 hours were packed with many fun activities, including worship, group games, movies, exploring our personality types and eating lots of junk food, of course. For those who did fall asleep, the early morning wake-up call came as a rude awakening, but they were quickly appeased with a delectable breakfast of pancakes, bacon and coffee. We ...

What If The Church...Stayed Together?

David Andersen
What If The Church is over. *sigh* We cleaned our paintbrushes, emptied the mop buckets, packed up the lunch leftovers and headed back to our respective communities of faith. It's kind of like when you were a kid in the summer time and your friend came over to spend the night, and then their mom called and said they could stay another night. Then, after two days of playing together, the time finally came when your friend's mom showed up for real to take them home. You and your friend begged for another day, but your friend had ...

What If The Church Recap

David Andersen
What If The Church finished last week with two great events: The God of this City Worship and Prayer Night (on Wednesday, April 28th) and the Serve Day (on Saturday, May 1st). We'll have pictures as soon as we get them. Worship and Prayer Night - Over 1,500 people from 24 different churches attended this event. Worship leaders from the different churches took turns leading worship. It was a great picture of the Big C Church being together and acting like one church in the eyes of the world and God. Serve Day - Over 500 people ...
